This is a host-guest case. The parties were neighbors in Ellensburg. The plaintiffs, Mrs. Anna M. Dole and her two minor daughters (Joan and Gertrude) had accepted the invitation of the defendant Homer Goebel to ride with him from Ellensburg to Yakima. The trip proved uneventful until the Goebel automobile entered a construction area just north of Yakima.
