The defendants are charged in consolidated actions with third degree assault, a gross misdemeanor.

This case has already traveled the most tortuous and circuitous routes conceivable. It commenced in one justice of the peace court, from which it was informally transferred to another. The second justice transferred it to a third, on the filing of an affidavit of prejudice and motion for change
