In the present case, an employer, the plaintiffs, discharged an employee, William Hosendorf, who was a member of defendant, a labor organization. Defendant contested the employer's right to discharge Hosendorf and, being unable to settle the problem otherwise, the parties referred the dispute to an arbitrator in accordance with an arbitration clause in the labor contract between the parties.
