Thomas R. Gafford died in Caddo Parish on April 7, 1963 and his succession was opened as intestate. Frank Matthews was appointed and qualified as administrator. Some months thereafter certain papers or documents bearing the handwriting of the deceased were found contained in a manila envelope in a box among the possessions of the deceased.
