Robert Smith brought an action against William Finley, individually and as administrator of his wife's (Ruth Collier Finley's) estate, referred to herein as "Finley," and against James R. VanHoose. Finley cross-claimed against VanHoose and the latter counterclaimed against Finley. In a separate action Anne B. Bryant and Britain H. Bryant filed suit against VanHoose and Finley.
