Emma J. Barnes, plaintiff (appellee), brought this action against Mid-Continent Casualty Company, defendant (appellant), to recover on a fire and lightning insurance contract for losses sustained to her premises occasioned by lightning striking the northwest corner of her house.

The damage to the house consisted of the electrical system being short-circuited, the burning out of the heating element...
