On the morning of January 16, 1962, in the Parish of Jefferson, an automobile owned and driven by Clifford J. Robert traveling on La. Highway 18 (west side River Road) towards New Orleans crashed into the rear of an automotive truck owned by the partnership composed of Joseph and Dominic Giardina (farmers).
