Floyd Ural Lovelace was arrested on August 22, 1963, in Pittsylvania county, Virginia, on a warrant which charged him with the "possession of a stolen automobile." After a preliminary hearing in the county court of Pittsylvania county, the case was certified to the grand jury of the circuit court of that county.
