Defendant, 19 years old, pleaded guilty to three counts of manslaughter by vehicle and one count of violating Vehicle Code section 23101 (felony drunk driving). [1a] On appeal defendant urges that the court abused its discretion by sentencing him to state prison and refusing to refer him to the California Youth Authority for possible commitment to an institution of that agency.
