This appeal is from a judgment entered upon a directed verdict for the defendants. Plaintiff sued under the Alabama Workmen's Compensation Act,1 and in the alternative in simple negligence for damages. He sought to recover either compensation or damages for personal injuries suffered on February 18, 1958 when an iron bar or "lumber hook" fell on plaintiff's head while he was employed as a sawyer at Gulf Lumber Company...
