Defendant presents two issues on this appeal — the claimed excessiveness of: (a) $3,600 special damages;1 and (b) $50,000 general damages.

The issue of liability is not before us. We need not, therefore, expand upon the occasion giving rise to plaintiff's cause of action, except to identify that it springs from an automobile accident.
