On June 17, 1949, plaintiff was seriously injured in an automobile accident sustained in the course of his employment. Among other injuries, he suffered a punctured bladder and a fractured pelvis. In uncontested proceedings he was awarded compensation benefits for the period from June 18, 1949, through January 16, 1959, a period of 500 weeks after injury.
