In the construction of a multiple-lane highway across North Louisiana, it was necessary for plaintiff to expropriate 36.735 acres of land owned by defendant in Webster Parish. Being unable to purchase the property, plaintiff deposited the sum of $183,000 in the registry of the court and title to the land was transferred to plaintiff by an order of the court pursuant to LSA-R.S. 48:441 et seq.
