This appeal is from the decision of the Board of Appeals, affirming the examiner's rejection of claims 10 through 17 of appellants' application1 entitled "Aryl N-(Aminoalkyl)-Carbamates and their Preparation" as unpatentable over the prior art. Nine claims were allowed.

The invention relates to (1) certain new carbamates which are useful as local anesthetics, (2) certain new chloroformates which are the intermediates...
