On April 14, 1960, a jury returned a verdict of guilty against Jerald Carmel and Philip John Vita under Counts 1, 2 and 3 of the indictment, charging them with robbing a national bank, placing in jeopardy the life of an employee of the bank by use of a dangerous weapon, and conspiring to commit the robbery, all in violation of Sections 2113(a) and (d), 2 and 371 of Title 18 of the United States Code.
