Clarence C. Harlow, sometimes hereinafter designated as defendant, was on September 4, 1962, indicted on a charge of grand larceny. The indictment alleged that on January 18, 1962, he, in the city of Bristol, Virginia, unlawfully and feloniously, did steal, take, and carry away U.
