In his complaint Cottingham alleged that on August 20, 1958 a vehicle owned and operated by the Star Bus Line (hereinafter referred to as the defendant) collided with a vehicle operated by Cottingham, that the collision and his resultant injuries were proximately caused by the negligence of defendant's employee, and he prayed for damages in the amount of $210,000.
