Although several issues are raised by defendant, we will confine this opinion to the question of whether the trial court erred in denying defendant's motion for directed verdict. This makes it necessary to recount the evidence produced at the trial. In so doing, we shall follow the chronological sequence pursued in the conduct of the trial.
