Plaintiff sues for damages resulting from injuries sustained while she was a passenger on defendant's bus. She was walking in the aisle, facing the back of the bus, going to a vacant seat, when the bus suddenly stopped, causing her to be thrown backwards and injured.

At the conclusion of plaintiff's proofs defendant moved for a directed verdict of no cause for action on the ground that, as a matter of law, no proof of defendant's negligence had...
