The jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff in a bastardy action which she instituted against the defendant. Within the six-day period allowed by what is now § 254 of the 1963

Practice Book, the defendant filed a motion for a new trial on the ground of newly discovered evidence. See cases such as Hoberman v. Lake of Isles, Inc., 138 Conn. 573
