The defendant, Jerome Kennedy, was found guilty of contempt of court for striking his seventeen-year-old stepdaughter after having previously been admonished orally by the court that he would be held in contempt of court should he molest or threaten her. The defendant was sentenced to imprisonment in the county jail for a period not to exceed six months unless "he sooner purges himself or unless sooner discharged...
