This is an expropriation suit in which the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways, expropriated 2.115 acres of land situated in Ascension Parish, Louisiana belonging to John Richard Cannon.

Upon filing the suit, the Department of Highways deposited in the registry of the court the sum of $973, its estimate of just compensation. Defendant answered, seeking additional compensation for the market value of the land plus compensation...
