Plaintiff was injured on June 14, 1958, while working as a longshoreman for T. Smith & Son, Inc., and while aboard a vessel afloat on navigable waters of the United States. He was paid compensation under the Federal Longshoremen's Act (33 U.S.C.A. § 901 et seq.) at $54.00 per week until April 12, 1959. Thereafter, on August 6, 1959, he filed suit in the Civil District Court, Parish of Orleans, State of Louisiana, for Louisiana workmen...
