The defendant, Layton T. Merrick, was tried before this Court and a jury upon his plea of not guilty to five counts of an indictment charging various counterfeiting offenses. Defendant was found guilty on each count. On April 2, 1963, he was sentenced to imprisonment for a period of six years on each of the five counts, to be served concurrently. The defendant is presently imprisoned in the Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, Springfield...
