On October 3, 1956, Aretha Wise was injured when she fell while a passenger on one of the defendant's streetcars. Her husband, plaintiff Eddy Wise, filed this action to recover damages for loss of services of his wife and consortium. A jury verdict for plaintiff in the sum of $12,000 was reduced by remittitur to $7,000. A judgment was entered for that amount. On appeal to the St. Louis Court of Appeals, the judgment was affirmed.
