This is an appeal from a decision of the Board of Appeals of the United States Patent Office affirming the examiner's rejection of claims 1 to 5, all of the claims of appellants' application for a patent.

The application was filed November 12, 1957 and relates to certain piperidine carboxylic acid derivatives and to a process of preparing them. The compounds claimed are disclosed to be "physiologically active" and "useful as analgesics and narcotics...
