On September 24, 1956, a written contract was entered into between the mother of an illegitimate child and the child's father. The mother, Norma Vesley, formerly Plunkett, commenced this action in the name of the child, Pamela Jo Atkins, as her mother and next friend, against the father, Paul Newman Atkins, Jr., to enforce the terms of the contract.
