This is an action for $50,000 actual and $50,000 punitive damages based upon the charge that in April 1955, Jo Ann Wilkins, a minor under the age of 17 years and confined in the Cole County Jail in Jefferson City, was unlawfully and criminally assaulted and sexual intercourse had with her on several occasions by defendant Mankin, a deputy sheriff and jailer in charge of said jail; and that as a result of such intercourse she became pregnant and subsequently...
