Defendant was charged with having "unlawfully and feloniously become addicted to a narcotic drug, to wit: Heroin." See §§ 195.020 and 195.200 (unless otherwise indicated all statutory references are to RS Mo 1959, V.A.M.S.). He was also charged with two prior felony convictions. See § 556.280.
