On April 21, 1960, Mary M. Hillery obtained a decree nisi granting her a divorce from her husband Thomas H. Hillery, on the ground of cruel and abusive treatment. Under the decree the custody of the two minor children was given to the wife, and the husband was ordered to pay to his wife $125 per week as alimony and a further sum of $125 per week for the maintenance of the children.
