The appellant Mary MacLaughlin was a passenger in a taxicab which was involved in a collision with another automobile. She and her husband sued the appellees for personal injuries and losses alleged to have been caused by negligence of the driver of the cab. When the case came on for trial before a jury the defendants conceded liability. The consequent verdict for damages was for the aggregate sum of $42,500, of which $15,000 was awarded to the wife...
