Appellant was convicted of the misdemeanor offense of wilfully deserting, neglecting, or refusing to provide for the support and maintenance of his children under eighteen years of age, in violation of Art. 602, V.A.P.C., as amended by Senate Bill 47, Chap. 222, Regular Session of the 56th Legislature, page 504.
