On the date of the accident, November 13, 1957, respondent, a resident of Wisconsin Rapids, was employed at Biron division of Consolidated Water Power & Paper Company. He was fifty-eight years of age and had worked at said company for eighteen years. At the time in question his shift was from 3 p. m. to 11 p. m., five days a week.
