In 1956 defendant pleaded guilty before a committing magistrate in Los Angeles County to a charge of violating section 288 of the Penal Code; thereupon defendant was certified to the superior court for pronouncement of judgment. After certain proceedings were had under the provisions of the law relating to sexual psychopaths (Welf. & Inst. Code, §§ 5500 et seq.), more than three years later, on March 22, 1960, he was sentenced to state's prison...
