Plaintiff, The State of Louisiana Through the Department of Highways, finding it necessary to widen State Route No. 1, known as the Port Allen-Plaquemine Highway, between the towns of Plaquemine and Port Allen, filed a petition expropriating a certain lot belonging to the defendant along said highway on the outskirts of Plaquemine, Louisiana.
