Helen Elizabeth Taylor, while riding as a guest in an airplane operated by John W. Walthew, was killed when the airplane in attempting to take off at the Shannon Airport near Fredericksburg crashed into a building adjacent to the runway. In an action for wrongful death, B. W. Davis, sheriff, administrator of the estate of the decedent, recovered a verdict and judgment of $10,000 against Walthew, hereinafter designated as the defendant, who...
