The defendant has appealed from a judgment of conviction of the offense of violation of section 11500, Health and Safety Code, a felony. By way of indictment it was charged that he did "sell, furnish and give away a narcotic, to wit, heroin." While the document entitled "Notice of Appeal," filed by appellant in propria persona, is not skillfully drawn, it will be liberally construed so as to permit a hearing
