HAWTHORNE, Justice.

Mrs. Mabel Clarkson, about 70 years old, was found dead in her apartment at 731 Iberville Street in New Orleans. Her nude body was on the floor, covered by a mattress, pillows, bed-clothing, rug, and chair. Investigation revealed that she had been struck about the head and body with a piece of iron pipe and an electric fan, and had been stabbed in the chest with an icepick. Freddie Eubanks was indicted and tried for this murder. The State offered...
