The petitioner, William Lynch, filed under 28 U.S.C. § 2241 for a writ of habeas corpus challenging the validity of his detention by the respondent, Warden of Green Haven Prison, Stormville, New York. On March 10, 1958, this court, by order of Judge Gregory F. Noonan, granted the petitioner permission to proceed in forma pauperis and on May 14, 1959, Judge Noonan assigned the firm of Jaffe & Wachtell as counsel for the petitioner...
