Respondents Clarence J. Carr and Mrs. George Kirkpatrick brought suit against the City of San Antonio to recover back pay from the city based upon the salary or wage rate applicable to patrolmen in the San Antonio Police Department. They each recovered a summary judgment for $2,680. The judgment recited that both Carr and Mrs. Kirkpatrick were "entitled to receive a base salary of $340,00 per month, plus longevity, from August 22, 1957 to December...
