In July, 1959, the defendant, Robert L. Stewart, was indicted in Cook County for the crime of receiving stolen property. He pleaded not guilty, waived a jury and was tried by the criminal court of Cook County. He was found guilty and sentenced to the Illinois State Penitentiary for a term of not less than one and not more than five years....
