Plaintiff's claim for maintenance and cure, by agreement of counsel, was reserved to the Court.

The plaintiff's principal claim, which resulted in a jury verdict in the sum of $46,150, was that he was injured aboard defendant's ship, the Pioneer Land, as a result of a defective valve attached to the makeup evaporator. No claim was made of a sudden or unexpected trauma, but rather of a continuous back strain occasioned by the defective...
