This appeal arises from a personal injury action in which appellant obtained a verdict and resulting judgment for $5,000. Thereupon the trial court, although it had denied previous motions for a nonsuit and directed verdict, granted respondent's motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict "since it ... is this Court's opinion that there was no substantial evidence upon which the verdict can stand.....
