Plaintiff, Josephine Steinel, surviving widow of Frank Schellang, instituted this suit against the defendant, Theodore L. Demuth, endeavoring to recover $131,200 for the death of her husband and injuries to herself, which occurred when the defendant's automobile struck both her and her husband on the rainy night of May 18, 1953, as they attempted to cross Tulane Avenue at the intersection of S.
