On June 18, 1956 Lawrence Wilson inhaled hydrocyanic acid gas, or hydrogen cyanide, while in the warehouse of J. T. Gibbons, Inc. where he was employed. The warehouse had been fumigated with the gas by the defendant, Sampson Bros. & Cooper, Inc. On June 22, 1957 Wilson died of cirrhosis of the liver.
