The first question to be determined is whether the trial court committed error in permitting judgment in favor of the mechanic's lien claimants Stilter, Unger, Ihle, Hengel, Quisel, and Zahn.

The complaint made the following allegation:

"That the public records of La Crosse county, in the custody of the officials of La Crosse county, state of Wisconsin, entitled thereto, show the following alleged liens, judgments, and mortgages: ......
