The plaintiff, seventy-two years old, worked for the North and Judd Manufacturing Company, hereinafter referred to as the company, from 1945 to June 29, 1956, when she was involuntarily retired by the company. About one month after her retirement she received a lump sum payment of $577.61 under a retirement plan established by the company in 1945.
