At the time of and prior to the enactment of the Mississippi Workmen's Compensation Act of 1948 the appellant W.C. Croft, Jr., was engaged in the operation of a portable sawmill. After the passage of the 1948 Workmen's Compensation Act he applied to the appellee Bituminuous Casualty Corporation of New Orleans, Louisiana, for workmen's compensation insurance on his employees.
