Collins, the appellant herein, was indicted, tried and convicted at the February, 1959, term of Court of General Sessions for Kershaw County, South Carolina, for failure to support his wife and child. The appellant was convicted of a violation of Section 20-303 of the 1952 Code of Laws of South Carolina, which provides:
