These three claims arose from the same series of events and were tried together.

On June 2, 1952 a State highway known as U. S. Route 9, running northerly from the village of Schroon Lake to an intersection some miles north of the village with Route 73, was a two-lane concrete road, each lane being about 10 feet wide. Two- or three-tenths of a mile south of the intersection of Routes
